Having the name Liles is difficult for people. They often spell it wrong, with a Y, not an I. presumably, most people think of the sugar manufacturer Tate and Lyle. I have had it all my life… Lyles, Lily, Lilles, so on and so forth.

Andrew Lisle came to my attention via the writer John Doran, who emailed me some years back and said ‘I’m coming to see you tonight at Cafe OTO‘. This was very much news to me, so I looked up who was playing. It was Andrew Lisle… not Andrew Liles.

Then it started happening again and again. A few people got in touch and said ‘I see you are playing, I never knew you played drums, you’ve got a review where they have spelt your name wrong.’ None of it was me, it was Andrew Lisle. So I got in touch with Mr. Lisle and said, ‘… to confuse the confused, let’s make an album’.
